Ugiri Elders forum hails Lawmaker, Osuji on quality representation

The Ugiri Clan Elders Forum on Thursday 14th March, 2024 paid a Courtesy visit on her Legislator, Hon. Sam Okwubanego Ikechukwu Osuji, member representing Isiala Mbano State Constituency in the Assembly.

The visit according to the delegate was in appreciation of his efforts in lending his ear on their cry over erosion menace ravaging some parts of the Communities.

Recall that the Ohazurumee of Mbano nation visited Ugiri nna Autonomous Community, the major spot was at Nkwo Mbaa gully erosion and Umuopara Stream where erosion has done more harm than good in the area as part of his legislative duties.

In the same vein, the lawmaker at the floor of the hollow chamber, Imo State House of Assembly sponsored a motion, calling on Governor Hope Uzodimma to rescue Umuopara and Nkwombaa Communities in Ugiri Oka ward cum clan in Isiala Mbano local government area of the state from the catastrophic erosion menace which about to cut the major link road to Umuelemai at one point.

In the motion, he lamented that the danger foretold the risk of splitting the Community into two through a steep gully stretch of over 2KM.

The motion which attracted overwhelming support from other legislators was adopted on the order of the Speaker Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe.
While introducing the August visitors, the clan head of Ugiri and traditional ruler of Ugiri nna Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Marcellenus Agbaka stated that their purpose of the visit was in appreciation of his(Osuji) legislative courage, especially the natural degradation in their area as he sought for his attention.
Speaking, the Apex leader of the Ugiri Clan Elders Council, Chief Sir Ben Uwakwem expressed delight over the prowess of Hon. Sam Osuji, saying that the people of Ugiri Clan and Isiala Mbano in general are very proud to have him at the legislative arm of the government.
According to him, on behalf of Ugiri Clan, we say continue the good work. We thank you for visiting the erosion and your actions towards that is a welcome development. You have done noble for appointing one of our sons as an Aide.

Adding his voice, the All Progressives Congress APC Chairman Isiala Mbano Hon. Cyriacus Obichendu (Onyeoma Cy) commended Hon. Osuji for his quick intervention to the plight of Ugiri people, adding that the site posed a serious danger that nobody know who is to be a victim.

In his remarks, Hon. Sam Osuji who was over joyed to receive in audience the elders from his Constituency described them as a vibrant majority in the Constituency.
He said: “I see you not as a vibrant group but a vibrant majority. Ugiri has been in the forefront of Isiala Mbano Politics. ” You have done wonderfully well, I am very proud of you. “History has a way of paying people back l, I will never disappoint you.
Osuji explained that he is only a legislator even as he expressed confidence in the State Governor to use his connections to get resource to tackle the infrastructural challenges in the State.
Aside the Chief Whip Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri, member representing Oru east State Constituency, other members of Ugiri elders Forum included former Isiala Mbano Local government Chairman Hon. Austin Nwaigwe, President Ugiri Political Leaders Forum and former Auditor general Imo State High Chief John Onyenze,, former Isiala Mbano IMC Chairman Hon. Chika Okoroike, Hon. Mahakwe Nwigwe, Engr. Vincent Ike, Chief Sir Anselam Obi.
Others included Chief Sir Emma Ochiagha, Hon. Juli Nwigwe, Lady Confidence Nzeako, Hon. Izuchukwu Okebaram (AKA Bora) Emma Haritex Aririato, Lady Mrs Nwigwe among others
