IMHA: Johnleoba describes Commerce, Industry as bedrock of economy

Member representing Ikeduru State Constituency Hon. Johnleoba Iheoha has described
Commerce and Industry as the fundamental principle of any economy.

The lawmaker who stated this recently while been Inaugurated as the Standing Committee Chairman on Commerce and Industry in the company of other legislators in the Committee.

In his Inaugural Speech, the Ikeduru born lawmaker disclosed that the scope of the Committee is so vast, adding that Commerce and Industry play pivotal role in the local and global economy.

According to him, the component of the sector encompasses various activities to the economic growth and development.

“For Commerce, we refer it as the exchange of goods and services, which primarily involves buying and selling activities, particularly, retail and whole trade, E-Commerce and online retail, Supply Chain management and logistics, Marketing and advertising and financial services related to trade like banking and payment system.”

He added conversely: “Industry entails the production and manufacturing industries, such as automotive electronic, textiles and food processing, heavy Industries, such as clothing and consumer goods manufacturing.”Servicing Industries, high tech Industries like Information Technology.

He therefore expressed gratitude to the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe for finding him and his colleagues worthy to work in that capacity.

This is even as he charged the members of the Committee to deploy their wealth of experience, exposures and knowledge to deliver on the task. He further appealed for unalloyed support and cooperation for effective and maximum delivery on the mandate.

On their part, other members of the Committee who spoke in one voice were members representing Ideato South and Orsu State Constituencies Hon. Vitalis Azodo and Hon. Uche Agabiga respectively promised to assiduously in synergy with the Chairman.
The duo furthered that the Committee would help in a special way to boost the Internally generated revenue for the benefit of the State economy.
