IMHA: Osuoha’s Motion to reintroduce Thursday Market Cleanup scales through

At the floor of the Imo State House of Assembly on Tuesday 23rd, January,2024, the Member representing Ohaji Egbema State Constituency Hon. Francis Uzoma Osuoha, Eze Buguma moved motion to reintroduce the Thursday Market Sanitation exercise.
The motion which among other things urged the Governor to mandate the Ministry of Environment Market and Imo State Amalgamated Market Traders Association, ISAMATA, to carry out clean up exercise every Thursday of the week, was adopted by the Legislature.
Moving the motion, Hon. Osuoha reminded that the exercise would restore cleanest and sanity in the Market, henceforth.
He also observed that markets both at the rural and urban areas were visibly littered with arduous deposits which constitutes hazardous environment dangerous to human health.
According to the lawmaker who doubles as the Standing Committee Chairman on ISOPADEC, Oil and Gas, the motion is in line with the Governor’s health policy of seeing that markets in the State remain clean and environmentally friendly.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, member representing Ihitte Uboma State Constituency, who put the motion on voice vote as the “Yes” voice had it and was subsequently adopted.
