Imo State House of Assembly has called on Governor Hope Uzodimma to rescue Umuopara and Nkwombaa Communities in Ugiri Oka ward cum clan in Isiala Mbano local government area of the state from the catastrophic erosion menace which about to cut the major link road to Umurlemai at one point.
This is sequel to a motion sponsored by the member representing Isiala Mbano State Constituency Hon. sam Okwubanego Ikechukwu Osuji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the assembly.
He noted that the danger portended splitting the Community into two through a steep gully stretch of over 2KM.
According to him, the people of Umuopara and Nkwombaa are mainly farmers and traders at Orie Amaraku Market, making their living from farm and Agro produce, while using the link road to transport the produce to other local government areas.
He so regretted that Agriculture and other economic activities had suffered terrible setback, owing to the threatening erosion menace in the peaceful progressive Community.
He said:”This link road in Umuopara and Nkwo Mbaa in Ugiri Oka ward, Ugiri leads to Amaraku, Umuelemai, Umueze1, which are three different political wards in both isiala and Ehime Mbano Local government Areas”
“The road also linked to several other political wards under Isiala Mbano LGA such as Ibeme, Ogbor, Obollo and Umuozu wards, traversing to Isiala Mbano local government headquarters, Ihitte Uboma, Obowo to Umuahia , Abia State.
he further pointed at that the road has become death trap, adding that residence have become helpless. This is as he cried to the Governor Senator Hope Hope Uzodimma to implore his 3R mantra in tackling the Infrastructural decay especially on roads rehabilitation to address the social and economic challenge in the area.
While expressing optimism that the Governor would give the House resolution the needed attention, the lawmaker thanked the Governor for his giant strides in Road Rehabilitation along Owerri, Orlu, Okigwe, Mbaise-Umuahia Federal roads.
