Imo Assembly tasks tertiary Institutions on prompt release of result statements, transcripts to graduands

As the graduating Students in the tertiary Institutions suffer unwarranted delays in processing and collection of their Statement of results, transcript and certificates, the Imo State House of Assembly has charged the School Authorities to ensure that they come up with administrative policy to ensure prompt release of results.
Moving the motion, Hon. Henry Agbasonu, member representing Ezinihitte State Constituency said it was imperative to stop undue and needless delays in the processing and release of the statement of result, transcripts and certificates in the tertiary Institutions, adding that the bureaucracy was unnecessary.
Speaking further at the floor of the chamber, Agbasonu noted that the essence of results and transcripts were for the one year compulsory National Youth Service Corp(NYSC) further studies or employment but wondered why the Institution would suffer graduating students who needed it for that purpose.
According to him, a good number of tertiary Institutions which include IMSU, FUTO, ImoPoly, University of Agriculture, Umuagwo, Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu College of Education, FECOLART, College of Nursing Science, Orlu, K. O. Mbadiwe University, Ideato North where graduates are been produced annually.
He said: “such bureaucracy that graduates face often times put them at risk or jeopardizing their chance of meeting up with the deadline fixed by the prospective Institution and organization requiring the said transcripts, certificates and Statements of results”.
The motion which gathered overwhelming support from other legislators urged the state governor Senator Hope Uzodimma to direct the Ministry of Education and EDC to release the result which was witheld since 2020 and 2023,

It could be recalled that the results of the pupils and students who wrote both Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and First School Leaving Certificate(FSLC) had not been released. This is as the house urged the Governor to direct ealesse the BECE and FSLC results of 2020 to 2023 l respectively.
Putting the motion on voice note, the Speaker Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, member representing Ihitte Uboma State Constituency listened to the contributions of the lawmakers as the Aye voice had it.
He therefore directed the clerk to transmit the house resolution to the Governor for onward executive action.
