Eze Buguma interacts with SHELL Management on progress made in host Communities

The House Committee Chairman on ISOPAPEC and Oil and gas and member representing Ohaji Egbema State Constituency Hon. Francis Uzoma Osuoha has interacted with the management of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited with a view to examining their responsibility with the host Communities in Imo State.
In a joint meeting with the Multinational oil Company recently, the committee disclosed that the essence of the meeting was to guarantee the level of progress in giving back to their host communities through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
In one voice, the Management of SPDC who spoke through the relation manager Mr. Hope Nuka enlightened the House Committee the progress made so far in giving back to the host community.
He noted that since inception, there has been a compatibility with the workers and the community.
The company made a spotlight of their achievements within the period of their stay which included the mobilization of ZEROCK and RICON Construction companies to move to site for reconstruction of UMUAPU, IHIE, OBITTI AND ASSA roads which is 20 km, adding that the duration for completion is 22 months.
Among others were health care services, proposed Construction of Obile, Assa, Awarra roads and a Ochia link roads, Enterprise Development Centre at Assa autonomous community.
Others were Transit Community projects and rural Electrification: Free energy consumption project will soon commence in Obile, Assa, Awarra and Ochia autonomous communities
The meeting lead by the Chairman of the Committee Hon. Uzoma Osuoha was an interactive one as many questions were thrown to the company to ensure a working relationship between the company and host communities.
The questions ranged from limitations capable of delaying the completion of projects, the number of graduates the company sponsors
in the area, the Inauguration of PIA Committee for Awarra, security challenge among other things.
The Company hence made clarifications on the questions
The company hinted that the people from the host communities were been used for surveillance.
Osuoha also assured the management of SPDC that government of Imo state would provide the necessary support to ensure the projects are completed in record time. This is even as he appealed to the the company to extend the road project to Etekwuru roundabout.
According to him, it will reduce the suffering of our people, that anybody that suffers in the midst of plenty, is not expected to be happy in Ohaji/Egbema. For a peaceful and conducive environment to enable business to flourish.
The Vice Chairman of the Committee and member representing Oguta State Constituency Hon. Gilbert Nwos urged the SPDC to always update the committee on their activities to enhance synergy between them
