Nkwerre Council Election: Community Pays 3m form for Aspirant says it’s our turn

The All Progressives Congress, APC, headquarters along Okigwe Road, Owerri, on Wednesday 17th, July, 2024 agog as the people of Nkwerre local government amassed to show solidarity as the Chairmanship Aspirant, Hon. Onyebuchi Nicholas Mbachu (Enyioha Nkwerre) picked form.

It was learnt that the expression of interest and nomination forms worth three Million (3m) naira was purchased by Amaokpara Community as a sign of support for his (Mbachu) aspiration.

Giving reasons, the Chairman of Amaokpara Progressives Union(APU), Owerri branch, Chief Emeka Egesionu told newsmen that the community purchased the form because they have implicit confidence in Hon. Onyebuchi Mbachu.

He described him(Mbachu) as an upright man, trustworthy, selfless and committed to the welfare of Amaokpara and Nkwere people in general.

Speaking shortly after picking the form, Hon. Onyebuchi Nicholas Mbachu, said his intention to run the Chairmanship election was born out of desires to transform Nkwerre Local government just as he recalled his achievements as a Councillor of Amaokpara ward 2018.

According to him, I have represented my ward, Amaokpara in 2018 at the Council, coming as the Executive chairman will be more work to my people.
He further said: “as a Councillor, I used my personal money to grade many roads, then the little money I received from the council, I used it upgrade the living standard of Amaokpara youths and vulnerable, the records are there to verify.

“When I was the President, Students Union Government at Federal Polytechnic Nekede, I facilitated the admission of about 58 students into the Institution.
“My goodwill and popularity in Nkwerre attracted my people to be here today to purchase form for me and I am here to promise that I will not disappoint them when I am elected.

“Since the inception of Nkwere Chairmanship position, Amaokpara has not been elected as an Executive Chairman, Nkwerre, Nkwo Orji and that is why my Community, Amaokpara unanimously begged me to come and run.

“It may also interest you to know that in Nkwerre local government, we have two blocks(A and B), block A, occupies the seat of House of Assembly. “For equity and fairness, block A which is Amaokpara should hold the position of Executive chairman”
“I am bold and have the capacity, the entire Nkwerre know that. That is why Eziama, Umudinwaku and others decided to support me, they have given it to me”

Speaking also, Barr. Fidelis Chukwuma Onuoha highlighted some attributes of “Enyioha Nkwerre” that qualified him to be the Chairman of the council.
He said: “he has been tested and trusted, and we felt that he is much qualified. He is a vibrant good looking young man, Amaokpara has decided that the young man will be the next council chairman.”

While handing over the form to the Nkwerre local government Chairmanship hopeful, the Organizing Secretary Hon. Iyke Umeh congratulated him for his courage, and wished him victory in the primaries.
The highpoint of the event was the donation of a brand new Toyota sienna to Enyioha Nkwerre for his Campaign by Amaokpara Progressives Union, APU, Owerri branch.
