Give Amaokpara, other Communities chance to produce Nkwerre Council Chairman, youths tell Anyaehie
The Youths from Nkwerre local government Area of Imo State has warned the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Imo State Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie to give other Communities chance to produce the next Chairman of the Council.
This admonition was contained in a letter written by Mr. Christian Ugwummadu for Owerri Nkorji Youth Movement.
The letter which reads in parts “without fear of contradiction, the Chairmanship position of Nkwerre local government Area is an issue generating some silent misgivings over these years with old Nkwerre Autonomous bloc having overall domination of the seat of Chairman overtime to the exclusion of other communities”
“This case of marginalization of other communities is one that needs expeditious attention to address in order to create a sense of oneness and equity in the minds of other communities in the local government.”
“In view of the feelings of marginalization among other communities in the LGA, remain silent.”
They however pleaded with him (Anyaehie) to use his position as the Apex political leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Nkwerre LGA and prominent son of Nkwerre who is much respected to implore his character of a champion of Justice to address the matter.
They further said: “therefore, as the Apex political leader of APC in Nkwerre LGA, it is deemed most appropriate to draw your attention to this burning issue at a time like this, when people from old Nkwerre Autonomous community bloc are seriously determined to take over the Chairmanship position again to the exclusion of others from the rest of the local government, a development that may be querying our claim of oneness and brotherhood.”
“It is obvious that there are interested candidates from other communities in the local government whose allegiance to the Governor and party should not be in doubt in any way, therefore we appeal that you use your revered position to appeal to the conscience of the local government party stakeholders to give any of these party Loyalists from other communities the opportunity to pick the party ticket and slug it out with candidates from other political parties come September.”
“It is our belief and conviction that once this is done, there will be a great feeling of Justice and equity in the hearts of other communities in our great LGA, Nkwerre.”
