Treasure our Ogbudu Amaogu cultural heritage, Engr. Igbokwe urges Ihiagwa Youths

In a bid to ensure that culture is sustained, a businessman and prominent son of Ihiagwa Ancient Kingdom in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State Engr. Noble Onyewuchibeya Igbokwe has urged the Youths to always embrace its cultural heritage, “Ogbudu Amaogu” seasonal festival
Igbokwe who stated this while fielding questions from Journalists during the annual festival on Wednesday 11th September, 2024 at the Village square Umuehiakam Ihiagwa Ancient Kingdom.
Speaking further, he noted that the event signifies conquest of their enemies in the days of old.
He explained that their fore bearers fought a war with enemies and won, adding that the successful outcome gave rise to Ogbudu Amaogu annual event.
According to him, the celebration didn’t start today, it started as far back as the days of our forefathers, thence transferred to us. They defeated our enemies and came back victorious. As a result of that, every year, we set a season out to celebrate our fallen heroes.
It is usually starts from morning as early as 4:30am, we have finished the first phase and we are now in the second phase which is merriment and joyfulness with all sorts of entertainment.
The CEO of Noble Solar Power ltd therefore expressed happiness over the event, saying that people from all parts of the Country and diaspora were present to witness the historic event.
“If the legacy was not preserved from their early fathers, i wouldn’t have been part of it. I want to appreciate our ancestors who preserved the culture down to the current generation for its gains,” he stated.
He further advised the youths to follow up and capture the existence and also remain undefeated and resilient in any challenge of life.
The member of Ezinwanneakolam age grade, Ihiagwa pointed out that it is valuable to treasure their natural endowment just as he expressed joy that the community regained freedom from the enemies.
