Alex Ibeh
The Imo State House of Assembly has resolved to Commend the state Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Orlu-Mgbee-Akokwa-Uga Express road in Ideato North and South State Constituencies.
This followed the adoption of a motion moved by the member representing Ideato North State Constituency Hon. Okechukwu Udeze.
Moving the Motion, Udeze pointed out that the people of the area have suffered untold hardship as a result of the abandonment of the road by successive governments.
He explained that the people of the area had been cut off from the rest of the state, leading people who are coming back home made their way through bushes.
He therefore tendered appreciation to the Governor for attending to the needs of the people by deeming it fit to embark on its rehabilitation.
However, his immediate constituency, Umume Obodoukwu Autonomous Community in Ideato North LGA paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Parliamentary Complex.
Speaking during the visit, the President General of the Community Barr. Silas Asiegbu described the visit as timely.
The PG who expressed confidence in the quality and representation of Hon. Udeze at the State House of Assembly thanked God for using him(Udeze) to bring the name of their Community to, Imo State, Nigeria and the World at large.
He said: “We the people of Umume Obodoukwu Autonomous community wish to thank God for picking you from our community to represent Ideato North at Imo State House of Assembly, we will continue to celebrate you as the son of the soil.”
“You have really made us proud. We are here today to identify with you joyfully and happily.”
Speaking also the Traditional Prime Minister of the Community, Chief Emma Izuegbu assured the lawmaker of their unalloyed support in his future political move.
The titled holder in the Community noted that their relationship with him would continue to be rossy. He noted that the people of Obodoukwu in general would not forget his good deeds in the Community.
The Women leader, Mrs Josephine Ukatta added her voice in expressing their enthusiasm.
In his remarks, Hon. Okechukwu Udeze restated his feelings towards their visit. This is even as he recalled his experience in the Community as a Youth.
According to him, before my Mandatory Youth Service, I initiated good programs for the development of our Community even when we had some challenges. During my Youth stage, I realized that no one disputes land ownership empty-handed, in that case, the person who has yams will be planting them.
I want to tell you that Umume is my priority. I have concern for humanity and I know that my God has blessed me. My focus is to put smiles on people’s faces. I always ask God to open doors of abundant blessings for me to solve my people’s problems.
We are only lawmakers as we request from the Executive. I plead with you to exercise patience with me, we will get to the promise land soon by God’s grace,” he posited.
Other stakeholders were among those who attended which included titled men, Women, Youths and others living in diaspora.
